rabbinic intern

Josh Weisman

Josh Weisman is a fifth-year rabbinical student at Hebrew College. Prior to rabbinical school, Josh worked in social change for a decade, including as a congregation-based community organizer, and as a member of Bend the Arc’s Bay Area Regional Council. Since beginning rabbinical school, he has organized seminarians of different faiths for dialogue and collective social action, taught religious school at TBZ, studied and practiced chaplaincy at Hebrew Senior Life, and served as Rabbinic Intern at MIT Hillel. As a rabbi, he hopes to make the deep well-springs of Jewish spiritual resources and community available to Jews of all backgrounds and prior experiences, and to draw on those resources to help Jews make the best contribution we can make to the healing of society and the planet. He describes himself as a Torah addict.

A native of the San Francisco Bay Area, Josh now lives in Jamaica Plain with his wife, Pella, a therapist and dating coach, and their two-year-old son Erez Noam. They enjoy being so close to Nehar Shalom, the Arb, and FOMU. They are thrilled to be part of a warm, socially active, LGBTQ-affirming, family-friendly shul such as Nehar Shalom.
