An Invitation to Connect: Kol Nidre remarks 5777 by Elana Brochin

Dear Friend,

We invite you to support Nehar Shalom, and with your support to express faith in our unique vision. The first shul in Jamaica Plain, Nehar Shalom offers a progressive voice for social change that is rooted in a vibrant embrace of Jewish tradition. Our physical presence in JP reflects our commitment to the revitalization of urban Jewish Boston. We can be proud of what we have offered to the community:

-Shabbat and holiday services
-A voice in JP’s interfaith and peace justice communities
-A wide range of classes, programs and lectures
-Rabbinic counsel to members and unaffiliated Jews
-Community Passover Seders open to all

Nehar Shalom has blossomed. With accomplishment comes the need for funds by which to maintain and expand the expression of our vision. Our community-building and outreach programs include:

-“Heart Beat” for children ages 0-3 and their parents
-“Family Learning Circle” for children ages 4-6 and their parents
-“Mispacha Family Hebrew School” for children ages 7-11 and their parents
-Subsidized Shabbat dinners connecting people, exuding joyful Yiddishkeit

In order to pursue and sustain the vision of this unique synagogue in JP, we need your help. As we grow, we face significant expenses associated with programmatic and educational efforts, salary, administrative needs and overhead. Our funding comes entirely through membership and contributions. Consistent with our mission as a community synagogue, we do not sell High Holy Day tickets. Whether as a member or supportive friend, please consider making Nehar Shalom a recipient of your charitable giving.

With heartfelt appreciation and blessings for peace,

The Nehar Shalom Board of Directors and Rabbi Leora Abelson
