Support Nehar Shalom

Dear Friend,
As a supporter of Nehar Shalom, you know what an amazing community exists in the walls of our shtibl in Jamaica Plain. Nehar Shalom is where you can:

  • Participate in weekly Friday evening or Shabbat morning services
  • Celebrate the High Holidays
  • Take a class on preparing for holidays, prayer and chanting skills
  • Join Thursday morning Torah study at JP Licks
  • Partake in a community meal
  • Get involved in the Social Justice Beit Midrash and local social justice projects
  • Attend the JP Flix movie series with discussion
  • Celebrate festivals with music and special foods
  • Join us for Shabbat dinners, Hanukkah Party, Purim Schpiel and Lag B’Omer Picnic
  • Participate in the parent-child learning programs and First Fridays for Young Families

More than the sum of all these very important parts, Nehar Shalom is a loving community where people from many walks of life gather.  Your participation and support make possible growing the place we lovingly call Nehar Shalom, the “River of Peace.”

As a community, we are committed to making synagogue life open and available to all. Our membership policy requires no minimum dues or assessments and no tickets for the High Holy Days; we welcome Jewish young adults and students for whom synagogue membership is a new commitment; we are an open and inclusive traditionally-rooted egalitarian community in which all are welcome regardless of knowledge of Hebrew, type of Jewish observance, sexual orientation, gender identity, race, age, or relationship status. To keep our commitment to being available to our wonderful community and continuing to grow, we need your support.

Help us to strengthen our place in the community, by making a year-end gift of $360, $100, $36 or $18 or whatever you can afford. Our year-end goal of $8,000 will support all of these activities and keep us vibrant and energized. Please make as generous a donation as you can via the secure Nehar Shalom website (click here) or by sending your check to:
